Friends of Maple Grove organized a Children's Butterfly Workshop on Saturday, July 9, 2016.

Greetings everyone!

Our APEC Science Event was a HUGE WIN!!! What a crowd of kids and family!!!

Venus Hall from APEC conducted this two hour workshop and the number of families that came was more than expected!

The theme of this workshop was to honor our new Butterfly Garden!

Phyllis Wiesenthal has attended a number of our events and spoke to me about her passion for butterflies and her desire to create butterfly gardens in the area. I introduced her to Bonnie and the rest is history and now Maple Grove has a certified and registered Monarch Waystation! Check the sign sent by the Monarch Watch that now marks the new Butterfly Garden at Maple Grove. Phyllis donated many of the plants and with the wonderful support of the Maple Grove staff has a wonderful sanctuary for the Monarch Butterfly!

So it was fitting that the APEC Workshop should be about Butterflies.

It was a fascinating and educational workshop and many wonderful comments were given by parents! Phyllis showed off the garden to the children and it was a huge success.
