Friends of Maple Grove co-sponsored a Screening Of The Acclaimed Film "Girl Rising" on Saturday, March 19, 2016.
The Friends of Maple Grove Cemetery has made wonderful strides with our local community with incredible events and programs! When we can go beyond our walls and help on a global basis that is indeed a great accomplishment! Our co-sponsoring this event with BAN was a great success and the hundreds of dollars raised will help many girls globally receive an education. The film was an eye opener and very moving! Viewing it can be life changing!
We used the Community Room on the lower floor and set up a food table by the Glacier Boulder Garden. Bonnie Dixon, Phil and their staff had everything set up in the room. We had seating for 50 and the room was nearly filled. There were also over 20 St. John University students who attended.
Aida Vernon and the BAN group helped to make it a grand success. We had Helen Day help by bringing two delicious platters of sandwiches and aided at the event. Alex Samaroo was out tech expert and the film was viewed without any difficulties. Our wonderful volunteer Bill Porter was there to help as well.
The event began with the showing of the film which played for over an hour and a half. We took a 20 minute break and BAN offered light refreshments to the audience. The final segment featured a Q&A Panel Discussion.
It was a worthy event and I am delighted that the Friends of Maple Grove could help.
