Friends of Maple Grove held a Jewelry Tree Workshop on Saturday, November 14, 2015.
Over the years we have collected bags of lovely jewelry and bags of broken jewelry pieces mostly from Material from the Arts. We also collected strings of pearls and ribbons and a number of wooden frames and pieces of velvet in various colors.
On November 14, these materials helped us create this wonderful Jewelry Workshop run by Helen Day!
She used the velvet, stretching it over cardboard on the inside of the wooden frames. We sorted all the jewelry and let those who came create masterpieces as they wished.
The finished masterpieces were each unique and one of a kind.
There is a little story with the only silver and crystal one. Some of the pieces came from the woman's mother's jewelry box. The jewelry box was was found floating in muddy water after Sandy hit their home. She washed and cleaned what she could save and used the pieces for this project.
